VoLTE

Welcome to VoLTE – a new technology that improves the mobile experience

We are now ready to introduce VoLTE (Voice over LTE/4G), which is an important step towards being able to retire the 2G and 3G networks in the future. Activation happens automatically for most users. Customers who do not experience automatic activation can get help via our FAQ.

Advantages

What is VoLTE?

VoLTE stands for "Voice over LTE" – it means your calls are made over the 4G network instead of the older 2G/3G networks. This provides better coverage, clearer audio, and faster call setup times.

What benefits does it give me?

  • Better coverage across the country
  • Shorter call setup times (especially in satellite zones) -

applies whether you’re calling locally, nationally, or internationally.

  • Better voice quality during calls
  • You can make a call and use data at the same time
  • Longer battery life on your mobile device

VoLTE activation

Benefits Both Abroad and at Home - And Especially in the Satellite Area

Countries like Canada no longer use 2G and 3G networks, making it impossible to make calls to locations with Tusass Abroad - unless you have activated VoLTE. However, the most important thing is that the calls will be better in areas where the experience has historically been challenged.

”VoLTE means a significantly better experience, especially for our customers in the satellite areas, where calls on older technologies are too slow and unstable. Now it will be both easier and faster to make calls, and with better quality", says Jonas Hasselriis, Deputy Director and responsible for Technology & Infrastructure at Tusass.

Activation will take place on a rolling basis between July 7 and 9 and is available on the most used models from, for example, Apple, Google, Samsung, Motorola, Nokia, and Xiaomi.

Good to Know

What is VoLTE?

VoLTE stands for "Voice over LTE". This means your calls are made over the 4G network instead of the older 2G or 3G networks. It provides better coverage, clearer sound, and faster call setup.

What are the benefits?

• Improved coverage throughout the country

• Faster call connection times – especially in satellite areas (applies to local, national, and international calls)

• Better sound quality during calls

• Ability to make calls and use data at the same time

• Longer battery life on your mobile phone

Do I need to do anything?

No. In most cases, VoLTE is already activated. You just need a mobile phone that supports it.

Can I use VoLTE on my phone?

Most modern smartphones support VoLTE. You can check on your phone by going to Settings > Mobile networks > VoLTE. For more details, find instructions for iPhones and Android phones here:

Does it work abroad?

Yes – but only in countries where we have VoLTE roaming agreements. You can find a list of supported countries here

Do additional services like call forwarding still work?

Yes – but please note that changes made on the 4G (VoLTE) network don’t automatically apply to 2G/3G. If you switch between networks, you may need to adjust settings on both.

Does it cost anything to use VoLTE?

No. Using VoLTE doesn’t cost extra. It simply replaces the older 2G/3G calling technology.

Does VoLTE use my mobile data?

No – calls made over VoLTE do not use your mobile data allowance.

What if the sound quality is poor, even with VoLTE turned on?

Just like with 2G or 3G, you may experience poor signal in remote areas or in buildings with thick walls or basements. Call quality is also best when both parties have VoLTE enabled. If you experience ongoing issues, please contact Customer Service via our contact form or call 808080 (Private) or 808090 (Business).
